Often at festivals, you can walk through a crowd of people armed with wellington boots and a waterproof jacket to see a blur of colour flash past you. Recently, we at Phestival headed to Rockness and when Millie and I were mooching around the main area with our camera and ‘I <3 Phestival’ sign, we noticed more than just a flash of colour.. but a spectrum of it. We ran over excited, knowing we had a decent photo opportunity, to find a group of festival goers rocking Kigus. Kigus are a Japanese creation, a morphing of the ever popular ‘onesie’ and animal fancy dress. The resulting creation is cute, comfortable and stylish whilst practical to wear. This makes them a perfect addition to your rucksack for the festival season. Needless to say, we loved them and thought they were a brilliant idea. We had a brief chat with the group of friends whilst we took their photograph and they commented on how they were warm given that they were large enough to wear their own clothes underneath it, and I remember thinking about the practicality of the fact that you would be able to find your friends easily when they’re wearing such distinctive attire. What’s not to like?
As you can see from these photos, the kigu selection is large – ranging from owls to kangaroos. What is especially great about the Kigu Crew website is that they constantly replenish their stock and rotate their online zoo of products, meaning you can grab yourself a limited kigu or campaign to get a favourite back on sale, alongside classic species which are popular to buy. From looking at the website, we in the office have definitely decided that we love the giraffe version, which you can check out here. Kigus are priced at £39.99 and can be purchased directly from the website. Could these be the answer to Bestival’s 2012 wildlife fancy dress theme? We certainly think they are. So, if you like to frolic around festival fields in comfort and wouldn’t mind a cute hood to keep your head toasty and dry along the way, consider investing in a Kigu, they may just be what you’re looking for.
