Download Festival is a rock music festival held at Donington Park, Leicestershire. Since 2003, the festival has aimed to provide punters with the ultimate in rebellious bands and artists, ranging from Iron Maiden,LinkinPark and Slipknot.
2012 promises performances from The Prodigy, Metallica playing their notorious Black Album in its entirety, Biffy Clyro and Megadeth, to name but a few. Taking place on Wednesday 6 June 2012 to Monday 11 June, the festival will attract over 100,000 festival goers.
But it’s not just about the music, the festival also plays host to various entertainment zones, inclusive of cafés, late night bars, funfair, shops and a cinema. Alcohol brought by the punter is allowed for those camping but is not permitted within the main area. Campsites also include toilet, showering and water facilities.
2012′s Download Festival is now complete but is looking forward to returning in 2013 with an even bigger and even better line up. Tickets
Ticket prices for Download Festival start from £155 + booking fee for a weekend arena pass and are available here at Phestival. Please note that the festival has now finished and therefore you cannot buy tickets. Keep an eye out for updates regarding the 2013 festival prices.

Accommodation for Download Festival
Download’s campsites open from midday on Wednesday 6th of June and do not close until the Monday after the festival has finished. There will be all of the expected amenities on site – including toilets, showers and running water.
However, if you do not intend to camp and would prefer to stay in much more comfortable nightly surroundings there are a whole host of hotels and bed and breakfast places nearby, given that the festival is situated in a well connected area. For hotel recommendations we advise having a look at websites such as Trip Advisor or simply performing a Google search.
Travelling to Download Festival
Donington Park is situated next toEast Midlands Airport, and practically central within the country it has excellent travel connections being only three miles away from the major trunk routes of the M1/M42 and A50.
By Car: Access by car is possible and car park tickets are available for £15 as an upgrade to weekend tickets, valid for the entirety of the festival. If purchased on the day, tickets will cost £20. Download recommend lessening the impact on the local area through liftshare. Please note that motorbike parking is free of charge – the park is located on the hard standing area in the West Car Park.
By Coach: The official coach provider for Download is National Express, who has been working with festivals and events for over two decades. The coaches provide direct transport to and from the festival from a variety of places around the UK. To book coach travel click here or call 08717 81 81 81. Alternatively, visit your nearest outlet.
By Rail: To check for information on trains from your narest station to East Midlands Parkway station or Derby station, you can call National Rail on 08457 484 950 or visit their website by clicking here. East Midlands Parkway station information can be found here. Derby Station information can likewise be found on Cross Country Trains. Official shuttle buses will operate from both stations direct to the festival site, with tickets available on the days. Tickets cannot be pre-booked.
By Plane: East Midlands airport is incredibly close to the site, making it the most convenient. Alternatively, Download recommend travelling to Manchester airport and taking a train to Sheffield, changing to arrive in Derby. If you intend to arrive in Heathrow airport, it is recommended that you take the Heathrow Express to Paddington, the tube to Kings Cross St Pancras, then a train to Derby. For Gatwick, it is advised that you take the First Capital Connect service to London St Panras to take a train toDerby.
However you intend to travel, checking Transport Direct may be useful in planning your journey.
