Exit Festival is an annual summer festival held in the Petrovaradin Fortress of Novi Sad in Serbia. The festival began as a student protest against the government regime at the time and has since developed in to one of Europe’s best music festivals,. It still remains true to its image as an event with a powerful social platform. With thirteen stages you’ll be absolutely spoiled for choice. In fact, this year’s line up plays host to some huge festival acts, including: Guns N’ Roses, New Order, Gossip, Wolfmother and many more to be announced. This year’s festival will take place on July 12th-15th July 2012.
The festival has a number of stages, including the main stage, the dance arena, the explosive stage, the fusion stage, the suba stage, the happynovisad the elektrana stage, and the exit village. Each showcase a large proportion of the line up and pull huge crowds. The Exit Village in particular is incredibly popular given that it’s one of the places where the party never seems to end – people gather there to sleep in tents and dance to non-stop music.

EXIT village is a popular meeting place for both foreign and domestic visitors and is a place where the party continues late in to the night even after the last act has finished. With music, swimming pools and water sports you’re guaranteed to have a good time should you choose to stay in EXIT village to camp. To camp at EXIT you must purchase camping tickets, a wrist band will be given to those who have paid for camping and is valid for each person’s entry, you cannot rely on one wristband to cover a full tent. If you purchase a ticket for the Village over the internet you will receive an email with an electronic card that can be exchanged for a band along with some show of ID. You can access the camping village via a twenty minute walk or you can take additional urban line transport. Camping passes cost £25 and can be purchased here.
If you don’t want to camp at EXIT and would prefer to stay in hotels/hostels, there are many available at extremely reasonable prices located within or close to the city centre. This means that transfers to and from the hotels to the sites would be easy.
Travelling to Exit
Travelling to, form and around Serbia is easy due to the sheer amount of transport options available.
By Car: EXIT’s website informs us that all routes to the festival are clearly marked, with speed limits varying from place to place making it essential that you keep your eyes on the signs. Tolls are charged on the following routes towards the festival: E-75 Belgrade-Novi Sad, E-70 Novi Sad-Subotica-Feketić, E-75 Belgrade-Nis, E-75 Niš-Leskovac and E-70 Belgrade-Sid. Toll rates range from 160 to 3490 dinars.
By Rail: Whilst tickets are much cheaper if you opt to buy them at the counters of railway stations in the country where you are, but you can buy tickets in advance online at these websites:

By Air: Fly2Exit offer flights to and from Novi Sad, to Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. From London there are numerous direct flights by Serbian National Airlines by JAT and WizzAir. By Bus: Traveling by bus is cheap and rides are frequent. If you have arrived at Nikola Tesla airport, you can get on buses at the front of the arrivals, or at terminal one of the airport. The airport is located 15km away from the city centre so transfers won’t take long to get you on your way to the festival. From the actual bus station to Novi Sad you are looking at a one hour and a half bus ride. Buses are regular, ranging from every 15-45 minutes depending on time of day and are cheap in that they cost around 5-8 euros.
